CORE VALUES

Passion: We love challenges and we love helping people become the strongest version of themselves.

Persistence: Show up, even on the days you don’t feel like it. Consistency will always beat intensity.

Patience: Results take T.I.M.E, don’t rush the process and remember to be kind to yourself.

Play: Have fun, enjoy the process and live in the moment!

FUNDAMENTALS OF STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING

Test: This is the first and most important step to any program. Whether you would like to lose weight, grow stronger, or become fitter you must find out where your starting point is. This will help you determine what to train, how often, and for how long.

Implement: Get to work! Once you have a plan that’s suited for you and your goals, it’s time to get to work. Make good use of your time in and out of the gym, consistency is key!

Measure: “What gets measured gets managed.” In order for you to know if you’re getting stronger, faster, and fitter you have to track your progress. You can do this by tracking the rounds, sets, reps, and weights you use during each workout.

Evaluate: This step is important because it will help you determine whether the work you put in gave you the desired results. If things improve, keep going. However if you realize that you didn’t make the progress you were after you can change your approach. The purpose of this step is to help you maximize your time in and out of the gym.

founder/owner

Hi, my name is Marco and I'm the founder and one of the owners of PDXFIT. Over the last decade I've gained the knowledge, skills, and experience that has allowed me to help hundreds of people achieve their health and fitness goals.

We all step in the gym for different reasons but I believe that with proper goal setting and training we can all walk out of the gym feeling stronger and more confident. Whether you're looking to lose a few pounds or you're wanting to take your training to the next level, I have a program that'll work for you.

In my spare time I like to go on bike rides with my family, watch Rick and Morty, and hangout with friends.

OWNER/COACH

Hi! My name is Leslie Sanchez and I am one of the owners of PDXFIT. My background is in health communication and sport and performance psychology. I have over 10 years of experience in health research and outside of running operations and coaching sessions at PDXFIT, I work in precision oncology research at the Portland VA hospital.

I excel at making sure athletes are performing their movements properly and that they are getting the most out of their workouts. As a coach, I love seeing the look on athlete’s faces when they complete a task that they didn’t think was possible. Witnessing an individual overcome a barrier, either mentally or physically, is extremely rewarding. In addition, I enjoy the science behind what we do and how the body and the mind functions.

I love school and can’t seem to get enough. I would absolutely describe myself as a nerd who enjoys impromptu brainstorming sessions and research collaborations. My favorite areas of interest include athlete perception and satisfaction, functional fitness, and exercise treatment interventions. I truly believe in the mission of PDXFIT, which is to empower as many people as possible through the fundamentals of strength and conditioning. It has changed my life and I am so excited to be able to do that with others.

In my spare time I enjoy going on adventures with my family, making messes with my daughter, and spending an afternoon cuddled up on the couch with my cats.
